The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan on Thursday hit out at the state government for its decision to review the course curriculum for schools in the state.
Vasudev Devnani, former education minister in the Vasundhara Raje government, claimed that the Ashok Gehlot government was trying to indulge in ‘Congressisation’ of education and following a policy of minority appeasement.
“The Congress government in the state has been indulging in ‘Congressisation’ of education and minority appeasement. Maharana Pratap is the nation’s honour because he fought the battle for Independence against the aggressor Akbar. We had included and encouraged subjects regarding several great persons and social reformers in the curriculum, including Maharana Pratap, Veer Durgadas, Maharaja Surajmal, Prithvi Raj Chouhan, Govind Guru, Veer Savarkar, Bhagat Singh, Deendayal Upadhyay, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr. Bheem Rao Ambedkar, Jyotiba Phule, Swami Vivekanand, Swami Dayanand, Bhaskaracharya, Aryabhatt, Mahaveer, Kapil Muni, Gogaji Tejaji, Dadu Dayal, Nimbkacharya, Maharishi Dadich and Parshuram, Devnani mentioned.
Referring to Kothari Commission, he said this commission had also recommended transformation of the Indian education system, as according to it, the education in the country was made Europe-centric by the Britishers.
Britishers had made the core thought of Indian education Europe-centric, it is necessary to make it India-centric.
