Hyderabad, the famous Mecca Masjid blast case was heard on Monday after 11 years. In this case, the special NIA court acquitted all five accused, including accused Swami Aseemanand , for lack of evidence. To pronounce the verdict, the accused Aseemanand was brought to Namapalli Court. Swami Aseemanand was one of the main accused in this case.
In this blast on May 18, 2007, 9 were killed and 58 were injured. Later, some folks were killed in police firing on demonstrators. Let me tell you that the special court, the fourth Additional Metropolitan Session of NIA cases, had completed the trial. Let me tell you that charge sheet was filed against eight people out of 10 accused in this case.
All five accused Devender Gupta, Lokesh Sharma, Swami Aseemanand alias Naba Kumar Sarkar, Bharat Mohanlal Ratneshwar alias Bharat Bhai and Rajendra Chaudhary have been ordered to acquit the court. All of them were arrested in connection with the Mecca Masjid blast case and the trials were conducted on them.
It included the name of Nabakumar Sarkar alias Swami Aseemanand. Of the 8 people who were charge sheeted, Swami Aseemanand and Bharat Mohanlal Ratneshwar alias Bharat Bhai are out on bail and three people are in jail. The initial investigation of this blast in 2007 was made by the police.
Then this case was transferred to the CBI . Later in 2011, the matter was handed over to the NIA. In this case, statements of 160 witnesses were recorded, out of which 54 witnesses had died. Two more main accused Sandeep V Dange and Ram Chandra Kalsangra are still absconding in the Masjid blast case. During this full hearing 226 witnesses were questioned and 411 papers were presented.
