Karti Chidambaram, son of former Home and Finance Minister P. Chidambaram, has been arrested by the CBI. Karti was arrested by the CBI from Chennai airport on Wednesday morning and then brought to Delhi from Jet Flight. He has been taken to the CBI headquarters for the time being.
Karti can be presented in the court till 4 pm today. The CBI is going to demand them to be taken into custody. Sunil Rana, the judge of the special CBI court, can hear the case. Congress leader and lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi will be present on behalf of Karti Chidambaram.
CBI base for custodian
The CBI will tell the court to Karti’s custody to help Karti to help Indrani Mukherjee and her husband, Peter Mukherjee’s company INX Media, to get foreign funds. The CBI says that FIPB had banned INX’s foreign direct investment of 305 crore rupees in 2007 and got permission to get only 5 crore rupees. In such a situation, Indrani and her husband took help from Kati’s company Chase Management Service. For this work, Karti’s company was given Rs 10 lakhs.

According to the information, Karti was arrested at 8 o’clock on Wednesday morning. Karti was returning from London to India, the CBI arrested him after coming to Chennai airport.Karti was stopped at immigration counters. Immigration had information about each of their movements. He was taken to the lounge and his arrest there. Karti’s arrest on his father’sThere is no statement from Chidambaram. Chidambaram is in London at this time.
Earlier, on January 19, the ED had questioned for 11 hours from Karti Chidambaram. The ED filed a case in May 2017 against Karti and others in the INX Media Money Laundering case.
Know what is the matter
This case was linked to the acquisition of foreign fund worth INR 305 crore of INX Media while P. Chidambaram was finance minister in 2007. There are allegations that INX Media has irregularities in obtaining the Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance. There are allegations that Karti’s company received 10 lakh rupees for getting this fund. Idi has filed a case of money laundering in this case. Karti is alleged to have allegedly received money from Peter and Indrani Mukherjee’s proprietary media company INX for avoiding tax investigations. At the same time, Karti and his father P. Chidambaram have denied the allegations against them. CBI is also investigating the case of irregularities in the 2006 Aircel-Maxis Deal for FIPB clearance.
