Prime Minister Modi has been talking about continuing to improve elections and simultaneous elections. In this case, the PM’s plan is not going to embrace the opposition. The Opposition believes that if Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are held simultaneously, then Indian democracy will be largely elected to the Presidential (Preferential) system instead of parliamentary democracy. In such a situation, the opposition can not get the benefit of anti-incumbency against the government. Opposition leaders believe that if Lok Sabha and Assembly elections are held together then BJP will get the benefit of the popularity of PM Modi in the states along with the country .
Before Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidbnrm have also opposed, citing the Constitution. There is also the argument of the Opposition that if all the states and Lok Sabha elections are held simultaneously it will also disrupt the assembly of many states. Lok Sabha elections are due in April-May 2019 Opposition leaders also believe that the advantage of this step can get BJP more than Congress.
